Pilates

Pilates are a physical fitness system. It was developed in Germany by a man called Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century. It was produces during the First World War with the proposal to improve the rehabilitation program for the many returning veterans. There’s over 11 million people who practice the discipline regularly and 14,000 instructors in the United States. Pilates named his method Contrology, this is because he believed the method made people use their minds to control their muscles. The method mainly uses the core postural muscles; these keep the body balanced and are important to support the spine. Pilate’s exercises teach awareness of breath and alignment of the spine, and aim to strengthen the deep torso muscles. Pilates created “The Pilates Principles” to condition the entire body.
